As part of the mortgage process, we will examine and discuss with you continued affordability and protection of your loan. You are not obliged to take out any of these insurances as a condition of your loan. The only type of insurance cover required by the lender in order for you to obtain your mortgage, is Building Insurance. We are happy to provide you with a no obligation Building insurance quotation, alternatively you can obtain your own insurance and provide us with proof of cover.
In most cases, for employed persons we would urge you to consider Payment Protection (ASU) Accident, Sickness & unemployment Insurance to cover the monthly repayment of your loan, as well as Term Assurance/Life Insurance to cover the total amount of your loan. For the Self-employed (specifically sole traders) Accident & Sickness (AS) cover only is also available. We will verbally explain the main characteristics of these policies and then provide you with a written quotation and policy summary for consideration.
